lakewood

(n.) a town on a small coastal plain, located in Ocean County New Jersey;
the namesake of this company
The Signature Collection features five scents from specific town locations and traditions and attempts to tell the story of childhood in Lakewood

clifton avenue

A historic street. An elementary school. One day, the rusty metal jungle gym disappeared. The new plastic jungle came with new mulch. Jimmy loudly announced the stench it brought but once it settled the cedar became a scent synonymous with recess.

This candle is an ode to elementary school in the 90s filled with recess where kids swung on jungle gyms, sat on swings, or ran in empty daisy-lined fields.

the night before thanksgiving

In Lakewood, Thanksgiving meant three things: bonfire, football, and food. Every year, on the night before Thanksgiving members of the town gathered to watch a yearly bonfire. The football team donned their letterman jackets to receive praise and good luck before the Thanksgiving game against South.

While the tradition has ended, this candle represents the smell of the fire and the warmth of small town care.

little league

In 1975, Lakewood became the first Jersey Shore town to win the Little League World Series. Decades later, the little league tradition is alive. Families sit on the bleachers armed with concession stand hotdogs. Kids drinking gatorode, spitting sunflower seeds, and blowing bubbles with their big chew gum fill the dugouts waiting for their at bats.

This candle is an ode to the worn baseball gloves, fresh cut grass, and chewing bubblegum while anticipating every pitch.

family reunion

Every summer, near the border of Lakewood and Jackson, countless families gather, some with matching t-shirts, some with family-based talent shows, all with food on the grill and love in their hearts. Pine Park has been the location of many family reunions for the residents of Lakewood.

This candle is a mixture of the pine and citronella, inviting you into the summer days of fun and family.

nana's house

Three things were consistent about the Sundays: church, candy, and good food. Nana would put on a pot of coffee, stirring in sugar and hazelnut creamer, before making breakfast – usually bacon or sage sausage with biscuits and eggs. Nana, was a candy lady – always carrying around some small token of sweetness to pass around as an antidote to restless during the service.

This candle is an ode to the Sunday mornings, carrying the scent of Nana: her coffee, her breakfast and her candy.
